Just some general updates here.

I don’t think that I have written about this but I am becoming quite the chef here! Because it costs so much to go out for food here, it is better to cook your own food and then spend your money on traveling or drinks. The list of things that I can cook here are:

  • Chicken Chili
  • Chicken Stir Fry
  • Turkey Burgers
  • Pasta Bolognese with Turkey Meat
  • Tuna on crackers
  • Tacos
  • Quesadillas

Okay maybe that’s not a huge repertoire but considering all I knew how to make before coming to Australia was a Panini, that’s pretty impressive!

What have I been up to lately? Not too much. Ever since I threw up on my computer I haven’t really gone out, or at least have seriously limited my alcohol intake. Last weekend I went ice skating and met a bunch of really cool guys. Two of them have completely dominated me and Heather’s facebook walls. They live in Bondi and hopefully will invite us to party with them sometime soon. After ice skating we went to the guy who was having the ice skating party (he was leaving the country for a few months)’s house and guess what he had? GUITAR HERO! I hadn’t played in ages, and I was finally able to get my hands on a fake guitar. God it felt so good, and I was the best player in the room, easy.

Then we didn’t do much during the week. I had a lot of work to catch up on, I actually still do. I guess that’s what the rest of this weekend will be for. Oh two nights ago, on Wednesday, Ian who had studied abroad at Emory last semester invited me to this costume party at his residential college. It was a superhero themed party, so Heather and I were going around the cheap shops looking for ideas. First we were going to be Jedi’s so we could have the light up light sabers, and then we saw cop gear and we were going to be Super Troopers, but then we came across the men’s underwear section. There were red and blue tighty whitey’s that had stripes on the sides. And then we got an amazing idea to wear those and make capes and be Wonder Woman or Superman or something. So I got red satin fabric and saw this awesome gold material too, and got the idea to sew our initials on the backs! The costumes turned out amazing, and the party was a lot of fun too. I didn’t get super drunk and thank god I didn’t because Heather got pretty wasted. She was even rejected from the bar for the first time! We ended up having to take a cab home and walk from Uni, which is a good 25 minute walk. Heather started Projekt Mayhem and started flipping over every trash can lid, and then got the great idea to steal the 9 from the gas station sign. We had to ditch it though because there was a cop car chilling on the beach that we had to walk by. We got pictures first though!

Last night I got a group of us together and we went bowling. There was this deal where you get a meal and two rounds of bowling and shoes for $20, which is a great deal here. One game is $14 for students. We had a great time, and then Heather and I came back here and got ridiculously high. I ate waaay too much ice cream, and watched some Prison Break (my new TV show obsession), and then went to sleep and passed out until 9:45 this morning when Heather woke me up. Today is Anzac Day, which is the Australian Veteran’s day, and the tradition is to pretty much be drunk the entire day. So I think we are going to start after lunch. There is a South Park marathon on all day today, which is going to be pretty sweet. Okay that’s it for now!
